Fawang temple, also known as Dawang temple, was built in the early Qing Dynasty. According to the records of Quanjiao county annals published in the 12th year of Kangxi reign of the Qing Dynasty, the original temple was originally built on the Bank of Xianghe river outside the east gate of Quanjiao county. Because of its low-lying terrain, it was often submerged in flood season. In order to pray for the safety of shipping, Yan huaibao and Ma Chuanfeng, two gang leaders engaged in shipping, were engaged in, They jointly sponsored the reconstruction of the temple by boat people, in which there are many Buddha statues with the king of the Dragon Palace as the main body. Around Dawang temple, Buddhist residents in shiliba Township built a hall next to the temple to worship Sakyamuni and other Buddha statues. Therefore, it was also called Jinlong temple and later evolved into Fawang temple.
During the spring and Autumn period and the Warring States period, quanjiaodi belonged to the state of Chu. To commemorate Qu Yuan, the temple fair and dragon boat race were held in Dawang temple from the fifth to the seventh day of the fifth lunar month every year。
